That’s the word that won Joel Darcey the 46th Annual Putnam County District Spelling Bee Competition Friday.
Darcey, an eighth-grade student at Peniel Baptist Academy, will have his name added on to the William M. Odom Travelling Spelling Bee Plaque. The plaque is then displayed at the champion’s school until next year’s spelling bee.
Darcey will represent Putnam at the 71st Annual Times-Union Media Regional Spelling Bee Feb. 21 in Jacksonville.
The competition was held in the Putnam County commissioners' meeting room at the Putnam County Government Complex. County Commissioner Karl Flagg and his family provided the trophies for the spelling bee winners.
