Molly Parrish, a junior at Palatka High School, was one of four winners of the 2015 Clay Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington. This is no small accomplishment! In order to qualify for the all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C, Molly had to work very hard. Her journey to Washington DC began with a recommendation to serve as a representative for one of 26 high schools within the Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. service area.
Molly and twenty-five other students traveled Tallahassee on a three day all expense paid trip during which they observed the state legislature and learned about the Florida Supreme Court. At that time, the students also competed for one of four spots to earn a trip to Washington DC.
The competition for the Washington DC trip began with a written quiz about electric cooperatives and culminated with a speech prepared and delivered by the student which was scored by a panel of non-partisan judges. Molly was one of the four students selected to travel to Washington, D.C.
We are very proud of Molly Parrish for earning this prestigious honor as she represents Palatka High School and the Putnam County School District this summer in Washington D.C.
Congratulations to Molly! We look forward to talking with her and blogging about her experience when she returns.
