Hi Webmasters. It's been too long since we've met like this! I hope that we can continue to use this space for another year of sharing, troubleshooting and collaborating.
Have you heard of the VW initiative called the fun theory? "This site is dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the
easiest way to change people’s behavior for the better. Be it for
yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the
only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better." fun theory I think this should be shared with every soul in our district. School needs to be fun. Learning is fun.
This was a great ad campaign, in my opinion, and the idea of using social media to involve your customer base is growing rapidly. Companies are finding that it is a highly successful way to advertise and it is a lot less expensive than other types of advertising. (ie: Pepsi drops Super Bowl ads in favor of cause marketing) It's an idea for us to consider too as we look for ways to engage our students. Online projects, surveys, and contests will increase your traffic and provide you with a unique platform for communicating with students and parents.
I hope everyone enjoyed our FETC experience. We definitely know where not to stay next year but I think everyone picked up lots of new ideas. I'm posting some of those ideas that have been shared here. The first is Brenda Demeritt's Blog. Love it. misgocougars.blogspot.com
Shelley is test driving an interesting tool called "simply box". She's also issuing challenges to her students to complete certain digital journeys. Good stuff. Visit Shelley's box page simplybox.com/public/?id=145770
Alex is blogging with his students - although I've misplaced that url - hopefully he will share it here. Some of you have shared resources at meetings, others are sharing with teachers in small groups. Please leave a comment here to let us know how you are sharing. Follow-up points may be earned in a variety of ways for this project. Please feel free to design an activity that is meaningful to you. You'll need to turn in the necessary paperwork to me. It should be signed by your administrator. You can double the number of hours spent in the conference center in Orlando. Just track your hours using the time log provided.
I've found some good resources for iWeb recently. This one is from a site called iweb for musicians and contains a great list of resources.
Please share your favorites, too. We'll start a new page just for iweb tips and tricks.
